Getting To Know God
Testimony - The Key to Manifesting God's Power
What it Really means to be Saved!
“Great” is a simple but ideally expressive English word that may express people, experiences, opportunities, material things, or thoughts and ideals. To speak of something being great we are saying it is extremely outstanding. Highly significant. Especially notable. Extremely wonderful. Exceedingly substantial. Great is enormous-(Immense. Tremendous).
In Hebrews 2 calls our salvation “so great a salvation.” Why? Salvation’s great because it’s inspired by God’s great love. His divine love for us is unconditional.
In New Testament, the term salvation describes two essential components of a Christian’s life:
- Being delivered from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death (Romans 6:23).
- Being delivered from mortality and given the gift of eternal life (John 3:15).
Salvation is very important. The Bible calls it “so great a salvation” (Hebrews 2:3). Salvation is all about how a Christian can live a better life today and, ultimately, live forever in the future!
We saved from?
Every human being has sinned. The penalty for sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Sin incurs the death penalty. We have to be delivered from it! The only way to be delivered from that penalty is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Because Jesus Christ was “God in the flesh,” His sacrifice can pay the penalty for all human sins – Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Jesus gave His life, a life of perfection, without sin, so that we can be saved. It is by His shed blood that salvation is now made possible for all humans. But that doesn’t mean human beings only have to “accept” that sacrifice and—poof!—they are saved. The Bible shows we need to accept His sacrifice and also repent and turn from sin.
The Bible is clear that salvation is a gift, and it cannot be earned (Ephesians 2:8). But that doesn’t mean we can live anyway we want and still be saved!
Being saved is a process that begins with the human mind turning away from living and thinking the way that comes naturally to us, and instead turning to living and thinking the way God expects.
ACCEPT JESUS AS SAVIOR: repenting of our past sins and being baptized. But that is just the beginning of the process. “Everlasting life” is another way of saying “saved.”
Saved through a Process
It begins with
1. Repentance,
2. Baptizm by immersion and
3. Receiving the Holy Spirit.
4. Nothing should separate from the love of Christ – therefore, Salvation continues with a Christian, out of love and appreciation, striving with God’s help to live a life pleasing to God by obeying His laws and doing His will until the level where God changes a physical being into a spirit being that would never be injured, become sick, age or die.
Baptizm and the laying on of hands are key ingredients for a person to be saved from his or her sins.
The condition of baptizm
Apostle Peter gave his first sermon regarding the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, he left his audience with an undeniable call to action, outlining what repentance leads to: “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Baptizm pictures a burial. The sinful nature that characterized an individual’s life before repentance is buried in a watery grave through baptizm.
Embracing God’s offer of salvation
What better news could there be than the message that you can be rescued from your sins and the sentence of eternal death? It is the greatest part of the gospel message trumpeted by the Church since its founding. Salvation is available; death does not have to have the final word. The only way an individual can escape the high-stakes spiritual reality confronting him or her is to conform to God’s conditions. He requires unwavering belief in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, the laying on of hands and a lifetime of faithfully agree to develop God’s character. When these terms are obediently followed, you can become the recipient of “the gift of God,” which is “eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
EMBRACE YOUR NEW BEGINNING
Romans 10:9 says that “if we make Jesus Lord (the Savior) of our lives, and believe that He was raised from the dead, we will be saved. If you’re ready to start a new life with Jesus leading you and experience His true peace and joy in your life, it will be a journey you will never regret in your life. Seek to study your bible and become a member of a congregation where the truth is preached and disciples of Jesus Christ are made.
“For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all” (1 Timothy 2:5).
God sent Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the world. Romans 10: 9-10 says, “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.”
The is “Good News.” But there are other passages that seem to say the opposite. For instance, Paul said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith” (Ephesians 2:8). This seems to imply salvation is a past event.
